Bill Hicks a devenit celebru in anii ‘80 datorita actelor sale de stand-up comedy, dar tocmai cand era de asteptat sa ajunga la statutul de celebritate s-a imbolnavit de cancer pancreatic si a murit in 1992. Boala a survenit dupa alte dependente de alcool si droguri. El spunea despre dragoste asa:



“Romance is thinking about your significant other, when you are supposed to be thinking about something else.”
